Everybody and their brother will tell you that you need a morning routine.
Wake up at 5am.
Journal. Meditate. Drink your lemon water.
Visualize your goals before the sun's even up.
And look, if that works for you, great. But let's be honest here.
Most of the folks in our tribe are getting up, getting ready, and heading off to a full-time job.
By the time you've squeezed in a "perfect morning routine," you've still got a whole workday standing between you and your business.
For a lot of us, mornings are already maxed out.
So here's something nobody talks about: the evening routine.
I'd argue it's every bit as important as the morning one.
Maybe more.
I've been doing mine for years. I call it my nightly huddle.
Takes me about 15-20 minutes, right before I shut down the computer for the night, and it's one of the big reasons I can run my whole business in about two hours a day.
Here's what it looks like:
1. Reflect on the day. Three quick questions. What went right? What needs work? And the big one, did I actually do my highest-impact activity today?
Not the busywork. The one thing that really moves the needle.
Most days, the answer's yes. Some days it's no, and honestly, that's useful to know too.
2. Plan tomorrow before tomorrow shows up. I write down the 1-3 most impactful things I want to get done the next day.
If it's a busy one, I might only list a single thing.
If I list three, I rank them most important to least, and I put a star next to the hardest one, because that's the one I'm doing first.
3. Take a minute for gratitude. A few minutes thinking about the good in your life, and even the not-so-good stuff that taught you something.
Write it down if you want to. Sounds soft, I know.
But ending the day grateful instead of frustrated changes how you show up the next morning.
4. Visualize tomorrow. Five minutes picturing what a successful tomorrow actually looks like, and how that day fits into the bigger life you're building.
This isn't woo-woo.
Visualization is something a whole lot of successful people swear by, and there's a reason for that.
That's the whole thing.
Four steps, 15-20 minutes, done.
Now here's why it works...
The kiss of death for a Second Income Builder is sitting down at your computer and asking, "Okay... what should I do today?"
You don't have time for that. You'll burn your best energy just deciding, and half the time you'll end up doing the easy stuff instead of the important stuff.
When you plan the night before, you take that decision right off the table.
You sit down the next day, you already know exactly what matters, and you knock it out.
Even if that's all you get done, the day is won.
Do less, but do it every day. This is how.
If you want to go a little deeper on this whole idea, here's a video built around the teachings of Jim Rohn that's worth your time: https://youtu.be/Gs9AsM9U2Dg?si=GIO1n3flvWg_iXBZ
Give it a shot tonight.
Fifteen minutes before you close the laptop.
Reflect, plan, give thanks, visualize.
See how different tomorrow feels when you already know where you're headed.
I’m rooting for your success!
